The Veneto based company Sirio Galv has recently increased its quality standards thanks to the installation of the new liquid painting system, designed and installed by Verona Impianti 2002. This new line has played a fundamental role in the company’s environmental policy.

Founded in 1996, Sirio Galv is specialized in the galvanic treatment and industrial coating of high-end furniture and design accessories. Thanks to its continuous pursuit of excellence and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, the Veneto-based firm from Camposampiero (PD) has become a point of reference, first in the lighting sector and later in the furniture one.

Originally founded as a company focused on surface treatments for lighting, Sirio Galv has demonstrated great adaptability. When the lighting sector suffered a downturn due to production delocalization, the company was able to reinvert itself, shifting its focus to furniture and expanding its product portfolio. This evolutionary path was made possible thanks to the perfect combination of innovative technologies and artisan tradition.

Today, Sirio Galv offers galvanic treatments and high-precision application of chrome, nickel, gold, and other custom finishes, both for the lighting and furniture sector. The production plant hosts three highly specialized galvanic lines: two of these are semi-automatic and designed to guarantee impeccable quality on small and medium components; the third is a manual plant machining oversized parts or applying special finishes, thus meeting even the most complex customisation requirements.

Recently, Sirio Galv decided to rely on our team to project and install a new painting system, confirming once again its commitment to innovation.

The main objective of this new installation has been not only to improve the quality of finishes, but also to reduce energetic consumption, in line with the company mission aimed at greater environmental sustainability. This step reflects Sirio Galv’s desire to combine production excellence and attention to ecological impact, thus responding to the needs of a market increasingly attentive to environmental sustainability.

From substrate preparation to painting

Every phase of the surface treatment process for Sirio Galv products is defined by meticulous attention to quality. Each piece undergoes a carefully designed production cycle, ensuring the highest precision standards and flawless aesthetic outcomes. Following the galvanic treatment, which imparts various chromatic finishes such as gold, copper, or black, the components proceed to the coating phase. In this stage, the emphasis shifts to the aesthetic qualities of the finishes rather than corrosion resistance, ensuring the delivery of top-quality products.

The coating cycle

In order to remain competitive in a high-end market, Sirio Galv turned to Verona Impianti for the design, construction and installation of a new liquid coating system. This plant was designed with a particular attention to optimization of the logistics flow and the quality of the treatments.

The process begins with the loading of the components, which takes place near the galvanic tanks. This strategic positioning allows for smooth and fast handling. After being loaded, the components are dried manually in a compressed-air blow-off phase, then taken by the monorail conveyor to the drying oven, where they dwell for about 20 minutes, and finally, moved to a storage buffer and subjected to forced cooling.

For the movement of the pieces, we have installed a monorail conveyor equipped with a splash guard tray. This solution is essential to prevent contamination of the pieces to be painted due to the lubrification oils of the chain.

Subsequently, the components enter a temperature-controlled paint booth (26° C) for manual application of the coating. This application method is particularly advantageous for small series or parts with complex geometries, ensuring precision and perfect finishes.

Finally, the components are transported inside the oven for drying the paint products. The unloading phase is instead located near the quality control area.

A painting system that meets every sustainability requirement and reduces consumption

One of the first requests we received during the design phase of the new plant concerned sustainability and reduced consumption. We thus paid special attention to limited consumption and energy efficiency. For example, we designed an oven with a degree of thermal insulation that exceeds the drying temperature requirements of the paint products used by Sirio Galv. In addition, to ensure impeccable finishing quality, we designed a filtration system that covers the entire air recirculation area inside the oven and took measures to retain any particles or residues coming from other stations, such as the heat generator.

During heating cycles, the parts of the generator that cannot be painted tend to develop small traces of oxide that could diffuse into the oven: in this plant, metal filters suitable for high temperatures ensure complete flux filtration, allowing recirculating completely clean air just like in the car body industry.

Thanks to these technical features, Sirio Galv is now able to offer high-end finishes, respecting both elevated aesthetic standard and environmental sustainability requirements. This integrated approach not only guarantees excellent results, but also continuous evolution in an increasingly competitive sector.

The collaboration with Verona Impianti for the design of the system

Until recently, Sirio Galv’s painting plant was only able to handle components of lamps and small pieces, but the growing demands of the high-end furniture and design market made an upgrade necessary. In order to deal with this challenge, the company started a collaboration with Verona Impianti 2002 to replace the obsolete system with a modern and sustainable one, also addressing the problem of pollen pollution, due to its position in the countryside. The new system, equipped with a pressurized system, has effectively solved the pollen problem, preventing the entry of dust and fine particles.

Furthermore, the sustainability was enhanced by the installation of a photovoltaic system, used to power the heat pumps and reduce gas consumption. Despite the limited space, Verona Impianti was able to integrate all the necessary technologies without compromising delivery times, allowing Sirio Galv to maintain its production without interruptions.

The choice of Verona Impianti as a partner, has been motivated by the immediate harmony and understanding of the specific needs of the company, which has always been committed to sustainability, operating according to a “zero liquid discharge” philosophy. The water used in its production processes is treated internally and reused, whereas the necessary electricity is produced via a co-generator.

Thanks to the synergy with Verona Impianti, current emissions have significantly decreased compared to past values, while satisfaction with the collaboration is high, thanks to the reliability of the system supplied and the absence of downtime due to faults.
